Recognizing Navigational Tools For the Future of Education

January 28th, 2012

I have to laugh when I think of the times I watched the television program, “Flash Gordon,” as he putted through outer space in his make-believe space ship, talking on his make-believe wireless radio, and dressed in his make-believe space suit. Well, I’m not laughing anymore. Today we have shuttled astronauts into outer space, have men living in a Space Station, have space suites that take your temperature and gauge your heart rate, and wireless communication devices that send pictures to Planet Earth. Far fetched from reality? Not anymore. As we speak, the future is starring us in the face, waiting to see how we will promote her in the next 5-10 years.

How did science-fiction become reality over the past 50 years? Let’s consider one aspect of innovation: the learning environment – post secondary education. Why post secondary education, you may ask? As post secondary education population increases, programs to accommodate students will develop into curriculum that affords students the freedom to create and design systems they toy with on a daily basis. Are there risks involved in this adaptation process? There are risks involved when change occurs, and leadership should be aware of how to diplomatically

How Your Pink Tennis Purchase Puts Cancer Charities In The Black

January 21st, 2012

Choose Your Pink Tennis Gear From A Respected Brand

If you like tennis and the color Pink, you can now indulge yourself in some superb tennis gear from a select group of top sporting brands, and help a deserving pink ribbon tennis charity into the bargain. The Pink Ribbon symbol has grown rapidly in popularity and appears on a wide variety of sporting goods, especially golf and tennis. Companies using the ribbon on their product lines promise to pay a percentage of profits or a fixed amount to one of the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer charities for an agreed period. Though it’s true, that some companies have jumped on the bandwagon, as much in an effort to increase sales as to give to charity, most pink tennis products are supplied by some well known, well respected household names like Wilson and New Balance.

Wilson Give Cancer Sufferers The ‘Hope’ To Overcome Their Illness

Perhaps the best known range of charitable tennis gear is the ‘Wilson Hope’ selection of pink tennis shoes, bags, tennis balls and other tennis accessories. Wilson are at the forefront of ‘responsible’ sports manufacturers with their eco-friendly methods of production. They aim to minimize any

Super Exotic Sports Cars – What You Should Know, Before Spending Any Money!

January 21st, 2012

Before we start, let’s define the term ‘super exotic sports cars’. Sports cars, by definition are borderline racing cars; boasting powerful performance and sleek looks. Their prestige makes them expensive, and thus the domain of a select few. With reference to sports cars, the term “exotic” refers to vehicles produced in very limited numbers. This of course increases their exclusivity and by virtue of this, their value. Exotic sports cars will, in all likelihood, be built by smaller manufacturers or perhaps the super high-end vehicles will be created by some of the better-known car companies outside of the United States, as exclusive models.

Many exotic sports cars are the stuff of legend. The world’s fastest car, the McLaren F1, for instance is a well-known exotic. Although only around one hundred F1s were produced and the manufacturer is not a household name (outside of the Grand Prix circuits of course), the McLarens are coveted sports cars. All exotic sports cars are highly sought after and, as status symbols, are second to none in the sports car world.

But, assuming that you can afford it, is an exotic sports car for you?

It is easy to be seduced by the

Reasons for Dining Out

January 20th, 2012

We live in a society where food plays an important role in our lives. Not just eating to live and nourishment, but also for social and emotional reasons. There are a lot of different types of restaurants – from fast food to kid-oriented to ultra fine dining. There are many reasons people choose to dine out as opposed to cooking and eating at home or a friend or family member’s house.

Dining out is sometimes used as a form of celebration. When a student graduates high school or college their family may decide to go eat at the graduate’s favorite eatery. Maybe the celebration is for an anniversary, birthday or to celebrate a baby on the way. Whatever the celebration, it’s something that everyone can enjoy. Dining out is a common denominator that brings you together and gives you something to talk about amongst a group of people. Food can be a great conversation starter, beginning prior to even eating. Even the aroma can give two very different people a place to start. There’s better way to celebrate than to share something you enjoy with people you love.

Often with the hustle and bustle of life it seems

Resume Objectives – The Hidden Pitfalls

January 15th, 2012

Why Use Resume Objectives

Before we can discuss the pitfalls you first need to understand the reasons for including your resume objectives and how they relate to your resume and interview selection process.

Including an objectives section at the beginning of your resume provides a brief introduction to the purpose of the resume, highlighting your career objectives and the type of job you are seeking.

It is very common for job-seekers to include a brief objectives section at the beginning of their resume The objectives section can be an important part of a resume, and might be the first thing employers looks at. Therefore you should put considerable thought into constructing focused and clear objectives.

Look At These Resume Objective Examples

A resume objective does exactly what the name suggests; it highlights your objectives and states the type of job you are seeking.

Here are some examples of career objectives:

· To obtain an elementary education teaching position with upward mobility to a principalship.

· To obtain a position in manufacturing operations and development which will utilize acquired knowledge and collective experience.

· Public relations writer for a large metropolitan hospital.

Autocross Buying Guide – Select the Right Car

January 12th, 2012

In my experience, autocross can be a very fun and exciting sport. I have participated in several events in my local area. I found the hobby to be very addictive as well.

Out of all my other hobbies, I think this one is the best “bang for the buck” as far as thrills go with your car. Everybody can participate. Every car (some clubs have exceptions to this though like no SUV’s, no Trucks) can race. The nice thing about this kind of race is that you are competing against others in your class usually defined by the SCCA, however, you are on the course alone so there is minimal chance of hitting other cars.

The hardest part about autocross (aside from learning how to race) in my opinion is finding the right car. Sure, you can use a daily driver, but that is not recommended if you are going to participate in several events a year. Autocross can create wear on the tires and other components very quickly and can get expensive very fast. I would recommend to get a vehicle that you can use for autocross. This can be a “trailer car” or a car that

Understanding the Rise and Sprawl of Political Islam

January 6th, 2012

Within a post 9/11 society, political Islam is seen as a virulent force that threatens national security. In a response, Western governments have taken extreme political and militaristic action seeking to cripple the political ideology’s domestic and international expansion. Unfortunately, however, there has been little progress in this department. Still, for a small but increasing minority of Muslims, the West and its imperial intermeddling within Islamic Middle Eastern affairs (i.e. Israel-Palestine) is categorically reprehensible. Using this as a point of departure, serious acts of terrorism have been committed supposedly in the name of ‘jihad’.

The most iconic representative of political Islam is without doubt the late founder al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden. For nearly two decades, the Islamist figurehead has been synonymous with a militant form of Occidentalism, and has been named as the main orchestrator behind the 9/11 bombings. Based upon these charges, many believe that the timely assassination of this ‘evil man’ by US military forces was both just and necessary. However, bin Laden’s death does very little to ameliorate the social and political preconditions of radical Islamism itself. With or without Osama bin Laden, this religio-political attitude will continue to be embraced by certain Muslims who

Best Fish Tank Fish

January 2nd, 2012

Introducing a new fish to your aquarium does not need to be difficult. Most of them that are commercially available have already been moved a number of times in their lives and are adept at quickly adapting to a new environment. Before the process of introducing a new fish even begins, one must research a fish’s natural environment. Only if this environment is in line with the conditions in your tank can the introduction be successful. There is no amount of preparation that will enable one to live outside its preferred temperature range or lighting conditions.

Freshwater fish tank fish require the least amount of time for acclimation. When adding them to a tank that already contains a number of fish, one must simply allow the bag in which they are transported to float for 10-20 minutes in your tank’s water. This will enable them to gradually adjust to the ambient temperature of the tank and avoid drastic temperature changes that could be potentially harmful. As the fish will be floating near the top of the tank, be sure to turn off tank lights to avoid heating the bag and reduce the amount of stress on the fish.

I Bought An Old Farm Tractor – And It Is My Best Toy Ever

December 24th, 2011

My old farm tractor is the best toy I ever bought. I’m a simple man, I used to enjoy working on my car, changing the plugs, tuning the carburetor, just plain ‘ole tinkering; that changed (along with the rest of the world) when computers entered the picture. And while they have revolutionized the way we live and work, they made tinkering a thing of the past. I refused to let that happen when I bought my first old farm tractor. I’m not a farmer by trade, but I love the land and enjoy dragging my bush hog, it keeps me in touch with the land. And tinkering? Well that keeps my old farm tractor running smooth and gives me some time away from the keyboard.

I learned a lot when I started looking for my first old farm tractor. Old is just a term if the older tractor runs good and does the job intended, but be certain to check thoroughly when shopping. In my case, I brought a neighbor of mine along who just happened to be a John Deere rep, feeling certain he’d give my potential old farm tractor purchase, a good “once over”.

Of course

Private Dog Parks: Can Be The Safe Choice

December 21st, 2011

With an increasing number of serious incidents being reported at dog parks, I want to introduce the safe alternative that a well-run private dog park can provide. You will find that a properly designed and managed private dog park is a dramatically different experience than what you have read about or have witnessed in public parks. A privately run dog park can properly screen, staff and enforce park regulations. We do caution you that even with the information you will gain from this article, please know that any dog park is not regulated, so we encourage everyone to do their homework before visiting any dog park to ensure it is right for you and your dog.

The current trend is that community and homeowner associations are responding to community demand by setting aside a small plot of their land for a public dog park. Unfortunately these unmanaged and unregulated fenced areas often turn to that of neighbor confrontation, injury and horror, even with the best of intending groups and dog owners. Let’s face it, without any oversight or enforcement, incidents are going to occur. Because I recognized the dangers in dog parks to the point that I would
